Kobal is an Indian restaurant/cafe that I truly adore. I am almost every day there, either for lunch, or for dinner, or for both, or just for a snack and chai. It is rather small but cosy with a simple interior design. Food is ordered at the counter, where you can choose from a wide range of dishes, veg and non veg. When ready, meals are brought to the table. When leaving, you just pay at the counter – a very simple and a no fuss system.
The food is always fresh, juicy, and delicious and the people working there are really very friendly. Their mango lassi is world class and their chai is the best in town. It always carries me mentally to India – the home of my soul. But, when it is really hot weather, people ’round here do not tend to order chai. On such days the chai pot remains empty. However, when I show up, they are so wonderful to prepare some just for me. How spoiled am I!? *grin*
Today, all day long I kept thinking what to sketch. As the day went by I still was clueless. As I was on my way home at 9 pm I thought to pass by Kobal hoping that some chai might help with the inspiration. I was sitting at a table outside sipping my favourite hot beverage and staring at the Kobal logo. Time went by and I still could not come up with anything I’d consider sketching. Until the moment I became aware of the Kobal logo I kept staring at for all this time. That was it! That should be my sketch for today. It was a more difficult task than I expected it to be, but not impossible.
After I finished the logo and tweeted it as my day 8 sketch as part of #drawingaugust I went to the counter to pay. But, thanks to my sketch, this evening’s chai was on the house. Yay!
